Some evidence suggests that this was in fact Palladio’s first country house, designed between 1537 and 1542. Visitors can see the villa’s interior, including its 19th-century fossil museum, 19th-century Italian paintings as well as the villa’s surrounding park. The villa, shown at right, has been well maintained and its main hall and Venus room are richly decorated with 16th-century frescoes by G.B. Zelotti.
